High in the branches of a tall tree, Mama Pigtail sat distant, eyes blank, her hands twitching in hesitation as her baby whimpered and clung to her fur.

By a miracle, the baby landed on a lower limb and then onto some thick grass, avoiding a deadly impact. The baby cried, trembling, weak and terrified, while Mama Pigtail just stared down blankly. Her maternal instincts seemed broken.
Nearby monkeys began to panic, calling out, some climbing down toward the fallen infant. One younger female, perhaps sensing the urgency, approached the baby gently and lifted it into her arms. She gave comfort, something the real mother had failed to do.
