In a quiet jungle clearing, a group of monkeys gathered for their usual playtime. Among them were two of the most playful baby monkeys — Gabby and Maxwell. Known for their endless energy and curiosity, the two were always exploring, climbing trees, and tumbling through the grass together.
Today, they had found a short tree stump near a rocky slope. It wasn’t too high, but enough to challenge their little legs. Gabby was the first to climb up, her tiny fingers gripping the bark as she showed off her balance at the top. Maxwell followed closely behind, determined not to be left out.
Suddenly, a sharp squeal pierced the air! One of the babies had slipped — but it happened so fast, no one was sure who had fallen. Dust swirled around as all the mothers turned in shock.
Was it Gabby? Her soft whimper was heard nearby, but she appeared to be clinging tightly to a branch. Then, everyone’s eyes turned to the base of the slope — there lay Maxwell, a bit dazed, but not hurt.
Poor little Maxwell had lost his footing during the climb and tumbled down. His mom rushed to his side, gently lifting him into her arms and comforting him with soft kisses and cuddles. Gabby, still perched on the stump, watched nervously, realizing how lucky she was to stay safe.
Maxwell soon calmed down, though a bit shaken. It was a scary moment, but thankfully he had no injuries — just a little fright and lots of love from Mom. The mystery was solved: it was Maxwell who fell, not Gabby.
A lesson learned for both babies — curiosity is fun, but safety always comes first!
